Joe is president and chief executive officer of Schauer Group. He joined the firm in 2004 upon graduating from John Carroll University and was named president and CEO in 2021.
In his role, Joe is focused on stewarding the firm’s long-term independence and growth while delivering the highest level of expertise and service to clients. He is dedicated to attracting and retaining top talent and to building a culture defined by high performance, strong integrity, and a deep commitment to the communities where Schauer Group associates live and work. Joe specializes in developing comprehensive risk management and insurance strategies for clients in the manufacturing, construction, distribution, and human and social services industries.
Joe holds the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation, earned in 2007, and the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation, earned in 2010. He also attended both the Cincinnati Insurance School and The Hartford School of Insurance.
A highly engaged civic leader, Joe currently serves as chairman of the Sisters of Charity Foundation of Canton and vice chairman of the Stark Economic Development Board. He is a member of the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce board of directors and a board member of Canton For All People.
His prior community leadership roles include chairman of the 2025 ArtsinStark annual campaign, co-chairman of the 2022 United Way of Greater Stark County annual campaign, chairman of ystark!, chairman of the Eric Snow YMCA, director for ArtsinStark, and graduate of the 22nd class of Leadership Stark County.
Joe’s professional and community leadership has been recognized with several honors, including Business Insurance Magazine’s 40 Under 40 Insurance Brokers (2014), the YMCA’s Red Triangle award (2013), the YMCA Volunteer of the Year award (2011), and ystark!’s Twenty Under 40! (2009).
Joe is married and has two daughters.
