Greater Cleveland-area nonprofit will receive 100 service hours and $5,000 cash donation in the company’s third award cycle
CLEVELAND, OH (July 22, 2022) — Schauer Group, the region’s innovative risk management, business insurance, and human capital services firm, has announced that The Family Resource Center of Wickliffe, a multifaceted, greater Cleveland-area nonprofit that is dedicated to improving the outcomes of students, families, and individuals in Northeast Ohio and beyond, has won the company’s Century of Service Nonprofit Award program for 2022.
The Family Resource Center of Wickliffe works to be a “one-stop shop” to support the academic, economic, physical, social, and emotional needs of its community. The organization works collaboratively and creatively with other local schools, businesses, nonprofits, and governmental agencies. The Family Resource Center of Wickliffe helps connect people to crucial health and medical resources, food, clothing, and toiletries, as well as employment and housing opportunities. The center currently has no residential guidelines for using its services and prides itself on serving everyone who walks through the door.
“For the third time, we’ve asked the community to help us select an inspiring local nonprofit to serve through our Century of Service program and for the third time, the community has delivered!” said Bryan Schauer, executive vice president & Cleveland market leader. “The entire team at Schauer Group is excited to get to work helping The Family Resource Center of Wickliffe.”
The Family Resource Center of Wickliffe will receive an awards package that includes a donation of 100 service hours from Schauer Group associates and a one-time cash donation of $5,000.
The Schauer team will spend their service hours sorting through donations in the WicKloset, a student-led initiative that collects donations of gently-used clothing, shoes, accessories, non-perishable food items, and small household goods to distribute free of charge to those in need. The cash donation will be used to purchase brand new socks and undergarments for clients, some of the organization’s most-requested and most-needed items that must be new for sanitary reasons. In the last 12 months, WicKloset has served over 200 families in the area.
“The Family Resource Center of Wickliffe is so grateful to Schauer Group for giving us a platform to spread the word about our organization through the Century of Service Program. We cannot thank our community enough for their continued support, for rallying behind us, and for voting every day,” said Leah Reese, service director for The Family Resource Center of Wickliffe.
“The pandemic has placed hardships on families and individuals in our community. We have had a few clients share with us that although they previously donated to organizations like ours, they are now finding themselves in the position of needing to utilize our services. We have made it our mission to ensure that students, families, and individuals in our community have the resources and tools they need to be healthy, fulfilled, and successful. Winning the Schauer Group Century of Service Nonprofit Award will allow us to continue our mission.”
A total of 6 exceptional finalists were selected by a panel of Schauer Group associates based upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to: quality of application, demonstration of need, and alignment with Schauer Group company core values. Community voting took place from July 1 through July 19.
